When I was very overweight, I knew I was out of shape and feeling crappy.  Somehow, I lived in denial.  I kept buying bigger clothes (blaming my wife for shrinking them in the dryer),  and drinking more soda pop to make up for the lack of energy.  It wasn't until I was shaving one morning, and as I  looked in the mirror it hit me like a ton of bricks.  I looked like crap, felt like crap and at the rate I was going, I would not see my 40th birthday! That was all it took for me to get going.

Up until that point, no matter what people would say, or how I felt was enough to push me into the direction I needed to go in. How can you increase your chances for success without hitting rock bottom?

I see the same thing when people go through a break-up or divorce. All of a sudden they want to look attractive, and get serious about their health and fitness level.  So, how do you know where you are at? To find out let’s look at your readiness to change stage.

Stage One: Pre-contemplation
You do not exercise and don't think you need to. I hope none of you are like that!

Stage Two: Contemplation
You know you should exercise, but you have not decided what to do, or how to do it. That is were Functional Conditioning can be of great service. We can help you with the who, what, where, when and why aspect of your program. We know you on a more personal level,  and do not have a one size fits all approach.

Stage Three: Preparation
You exercise, but not consistently.  Again, we can help you with that. (That whole accountability thing).  Who are you accountable to?  Your spouse?   Yourself?  When you come in for your appointment, it is not to confess your sins of the past month.  We look at what went well,  and what we can do to make the next month better.  How many people at the gym are doing their same exercise routine for the past year or longer?  They get burned out, create a muscle imbalance or worse yet - get hurt.

Stage Four: Action
You exercise regularly, but have done so for less than six month.  See a pattern here?  Not to toot the Functional Conditioning horn, but we can help you stay on track for the long haul.  When people ask how long does it take to lose weight, get in shape etc.  I always respond “The rest of your life”.  If you look at it as a short term fix to a long term problem, you will be repeating the same patterns that got you to an unhealthy point to begin with.

Stage Five: Maintenance
You exercise three times per week on a regular basis, and have done so for six or more months.

As you can see, Functional Conditioning is the vehicle to help you get on track, and help keep you there. No matter where you are at in your readiness stage. Please do something. I know in the bottom of my heart that if you let us help you, great things will happen.  You will feel better, have more energy,  and live a more productive life.  We have helped thousands of people.  If you have had a set back, get back up. There is no shame in falling down, just not getting back up.
