I often wonder why
some people excel in getting into shape and changing their lifestyles, while
others easily slip back into their old ways. I think that perhaps people
have been fooled for too long that they can reap the rewards of hard work
without putting forth the effort. I am talking about long term effort.
Not working out for a week, and expecting major overnight miracles. What I
enjoy most about my job is helping people to look and feel their very best.
The most frustrating aspect is watching people go from one gimmick to the next.
You need to ask yourself if something is too good to be true, then it probably
is. Do you really think some abdominal gizmo will give you six pack abs
while eating Twinkies? What makes people think they can abuse their bodies
year after year, and within a few days or weeks erase all the damage done
in the past?
I see people who believe they can look like movie stars
and celebrities. Guess what, if you could commit to 8 to 10 hours a day to
working out, have all your meals prepared for you, and know a good plastic
surgeon then you too can look like a star. Be realistic!!
I had someone call me who wanted to lose twenty pounds
in two weeks to prepare for her daughters wedding. Had she thought ahead,
we could have helped her reach her goal. However, with two weeks before
the big day it would be impossible. I also imagine that’s why people max
out their credit cards, and never get around to paying them off. Immediate
gratification has long term ramifications.
Ask yourself “If I continue doing what I am doing now,
what will I look and feel like three months from now? Six months from now?
One year from now? Ten years from now? Will I be flabbier? Will I be
weaker? Will I suffer from disease that could have been prevented with some
simple lifestyle changes? Or will I have more energy, increased strength,
increased endurance, leaner body composition?"

If you exercise and eat right you should EXPECT
those rewards. If you are eating like crap, and do not take care of yourself
then what did you EXPECT? Do not wait until you “get around to it” or “when I am
not too busy”. Do something now! Get off your butt, and start taking
care of yourself. If you have not been in for a while I promise to help
you get back on track. “No Guilt Attached”
What I expect of my clients is that they give their best
effort. Nobody is perfect. Consistency is the key. Make fitness a
lifestyle change. When that change is made, you can and will expect great
things.
